Reflection of class on Feb.15th
As the author said,
this chapter 3 is about “getting ready to launch your course.” In the process
of reading and building my own online course according to some suggestions from
chapter, I got some new ideas about my AR course and almost finished the basic
structure of it.
As you know, I just
finished the syllabus of my AR course with blank in other areas such as
assignments, discussions and announcements because I was not sure the distinct orientation
and suitable style of my AR course. Fortunately, I defined my online course as
the supplement of physical class and the effective way to distinctly identify students’
work in class and after class in the end.
In this case, after
I finished segments of course credit and grading scale in my syllabus, I
established a home page for my AR course to gather students’ interests and help
them construct a fundamental realization about AR before they were available
for accessing this course. I really like the function of this custom-designed
content page because I can almost do anything on this page by using the rich
content editor and apply it as the homepage of my course.
I also invited Sam,
Sunny and Angela as students in my course although Sunny was not ready to
accept my invitation when I wrote this reflection. Well, It’s not a problem because
I could still do some operations on her such as adding her as a student in my different
course groups. And she would easily know which group she will be classified in after
she accepted my invitation and get access to my course.
To specify the course
credit, I established some relative assignments and classroom discussion for
students to accomplish to identify their learning and collect their feedback
for later refinement of my course. Because I set the beginning time as March 1st,
I couldn’t have a look about how students access to assignments and discussion
by examining my course in student view belongs to Settings function. I’ll do it
later after I modified the beginning time to a valuable figure. By the way, the
discussion and assignments I preset for my course would be displayed in the
course calendar automatically as long as I set the due time for them.
Although my AR
course is not perfect now because I have not enriched enough contents in it, I
believe that I can use this LMS to teach AR in physical eight grade classroom
and refine my work by collecting authentic feedback online.
A powerful LMS do
make teaching clearer and more interesting comparing to traditional class
preparation. I
have experienced it a lot by working on canvas.
