Reflection of class on Jan. 23rd
In my opinion,
Chinese education is a typical education test-based accountability that getting
a high score is the only target of education although Chinese educational
department argued quality education for almost twenty years till now.
As a result of test-oriented education, most
Chinese students have a strong capability on passing test and getting a high
score, but they are not good at cognitive and social skills such as problem
solving and communication.
Long decades of
lecture giving education make most Chinese students became a thorough knowledge
receiver that they don’t know how to learn individually by discovery or research.
They are used to the solid teacher-centered learning and it’s the major reason
that many educators proposed creative learning.
Karen Cator said, “standardized
test scores were an inadequate measure of the role of technology in school”. I
think it’s the American status of educational technology. In China, teachers
don’t need use technology for boosting students’ test score because there are
lots of other ways to achieve it.
The measure of
educational technology in China is creativity that if technology could active
students’ critical thinking and creative making. And it’s the major reason that
many Chinese schools are establishing the Makerspace like America, Chinese educators
and administrators want to lead a revolution of creativity by this way.
I don’t know if makerspace
learning could benefit for fostering students’ creativity in China, but I’m
looking forward to anticipate its prosperity before long.
Good points!
