Reflection of class on Jan. 17th
In my trip to New York city in last December, I went to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the whole afternoon. I know this museum is one of the biggest museums around the world which has almost three million of art collection include paintings, statues, ceramics, photos and others around the world from ancient to modern societies.
I just had an overlook about some of arts because I didn’t know how to specifically appreciate them from their appearance or unique historical meaning.
But I think I can essentially analyze some of famous painting from layout now after I finished today’s class and chapter reading.
In chapter reading, I learned a lot of theories and regular rules about how to design and construct an appropriate layout by implementing visual hierarchy, white space, grid, diverse alignments and symmetry or asymmetry. As well, I did some relevant analyzing and evaluating some online posters for practice.
When I searched for the needed material posters, I found that most posters just implemented no more than 3 rules or ideas from chapter but performed very well on conveying necessary information, stimulating imagination or deeper thinking.

I know it’s not just because of the layout design, detailed content design or resource choosing are also playing very important roles in the whole process of design. But for me, I’m still a little confused about how to convey inspirations into layout design or construction to make it more positive. After all, I have considered multiple possibilities for idea incorporation and implementing before I start design, it will cost me a long time to do that.

  1. We have a little bit, yet, before you start design. I think it will be more clear as we progress.

    Good Job!
