Report of Chapter 5

  As the author said, we will live in a smart house in the future that contains various smart appliances which could do chores and menial works for us to make us live better and more comfortable, especially for disabled people who need others’ help. I don’t know if there would be a smart house for us to live, I just appreciate the idea of the smart home.

  When we are in the proximity of our house after the whole day’s work, our smartphone will send our location to the gate controller to let it know that we are about to return home. Then the door controller will assess when will return home and send message to the control center of our house to prepare for our coming. The furnace or air conditioner would turn on in advance and adjust temperature of our house to a certain degree according to the analyze of weather condition outside by temperature sensor when they received instruction from control center. And some other smart appliances would be woken up from a standby state like smart water-heater and smart lights as well.

  Once we walk near the door, the smart cameral set on the door would take a picture for us and compare it to our images in its memory to make sure who we are. Then the door would open automatically if the controller received the confirmation delivered by the smart camera so that we won’t be stress about the missing of keys, absolutely we won’t need keys anymore as long as you won’t go South Korea for an operation on your face. Of course, we could just put our finger on the fingerprint identifier of the door to open it if the smart camera didn’t work well.

  The smart lights would turn on immediately and adjust the light intensity to a comfortable degree according to the data delivered by the sensor of smart window when we walk into our house. The voice sensors set in our house would receive our voice instructions and transmit to the control center of house like turn on the TV or broadcast the latest news. The control center would recognize and deliver these instructions to smart TV or smart radio to do what we wanted.

  The smart refrigerator would recommend the recipes for us according to the ingredients in it and preheat the smart oven automatically. We can look though the emails and surf the Internet for news and entertainments by the liquid crystal display on the wall beside the oven which could be controlled by our voice for operating when we are cooking. We can just put dishes and pots into the smart washer when we finished dinner and do other things we wandered straightly, the smart washer would wash dishes and pots automatically when it received the voice instruction. I think the way to control smart appliances by voice are much more convenient than the app of our smartphone.

  The smart radio would remind us about the appointments and other things we need do tomorrow according to our memorandum in the cloud when it received the signal that we are taking the shower delivered by the sensor of smart shower head. By the way, the smart shower head would adjust the speed and temperature of water automatically by the voice instruction.

  We always like to play with the smartphone before we fell into dream when we lie in the bed. But the smart bed would shake if it detected that we had played the smartphone for 1 hour by the sensor of basement which is used for holding our smartphone beside the smart bed.

  So, it’s time to have a good dream. The smart coffeemaker would cook coffee for us before we get up on the next day. What we should do is enjoying and go for working with pleasure.

  What a wonderful day! Now, I’m looking forward to living in a smart home in the future.

Reflection of the Arts

  According to my experience about learning the arts in China, I didn’t receive a holistic fundamental education of the arts actually.

  As we all know, the students in American universities should do so many homework to develop various kinds of awareness and abilities to live better in the future, they are usually free before they entered into university. But it’s completely different in China as a contrast.

  My head teachers in junior and senior high school always occupied the artificial classes to do other things. They regarded Chinese, English and math classes as major classes. In their opinions, artificial classes were not necessary as the major because there was not an examination for the arts. So I didn’t have enough time and chance to study the arts deeper and practice it.

  After I entered into university, I thought I had time to do something I liked such as learning the arts, but there was no artificial class to let me know what’s the arts and how to observe the beauty of life. So I tried to look for it on the Internet, but the disappointed reality was that artificial classes on the Internet were almost incorporated with lower qualities. Of course I would have high quality classes of the arts if paid for it.

  I think the artificial education is very important because it could help us cultivate the awareness of beauties and observe the beauty in our lives and enjoy it. It’ s long way for Chinese educational department to promote the status of artificial education in China I think.

Reflection

  Social studies is the integrated study of the social sciences, humanities and history. The websites we looked though in class just covered these aspects.

  Library is such a necessary place for students to study deeper, it also does a same fundamental function in online learning. Online libraries provide huge various of resources for students and teachers choosing to use, learners can search resources they need by search engine with limitations conveniently. The significant way to do social studies is communicating with others I think. So I think the best way to learn that is exploring what we need to learn social studies on the Internet and discuss the issue with classmates, teachers, family members and others. Group games and family games could be efficient ways to this process.

  There is a famous table game named “Three Kingdom Kill” in China which I really like playing. Heroes designed in that game are all based on the famous long-length novel named “the Romance of Three Kingdom” and the history of the Three Kingdom, I can obtain historical knowledge and humanities when I play this game with others online, it’s benefit for me to learn social studies of ancient China.
